IS IT AN EMERGENCY?
This information applies to after hours questions. If it is during our regular business hours, please feel free to call the office and speak to one of our staff regarding whether your problem can be addressed in our office or if you need to seek attention in a local ER.
INJURIES:
Is the bleeding continuing after using pressure and elevation for more than 30 minutes? Call 911.
Are the bones poking out of the skin? If so, please call 911 or proceed to the local ER.
Did the person lose consciousness after a fall or head injury? If so, please call 911 or go to the local ER
ILLNESS:
Fevers:
Under 3 months any fever greater than 99. Go to ER
4-12 months any fever greater than 103. Cool the child off by taking off the clothes and giving them the appropriate dose of Tylenol for the age, and weight. If the fever does not decrease with these measures or there are other signs that the child is sick, please seek medical attention either at the local ER or urgent care clinic. (Please make sure to tell them we are your primary care practitioner and have them send us a copy of the visit).
Over 1 year fever greater than 104 and using the above measures do not decrease the fever, please seek medical attention at the local ER or urgent care center.
New seizure in anyone. Go to ER.
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea that lasts for more than 48 hours, please go to the ER or urgent care clinic.
Stroke or TIA symptoms go to the ER.
Chest pain go to the ER.
